WHO CAN JOIN?

• Registration is open to all children or grandchildren of single-family Cibolo Canyons community residents (owners and/or tenants) between the ages of 5-18. Residents get to register first but then non-residents are allowed to register and we will have a cap of 140 swimmers.
• Swimmers must be 5 by June 1st of the current competition year and are eligible to participate through age 18 or the summer following their high school senior year.
• The swimmer's age for the entire season is determined by their age as of June 1st of the current season.

IS MY CHILD READY FOR SWIM TEAM?

For the safety of all our swimmers, children must be comfortable in and around the water prior to joining the team. Your child is NOT expected to know every stroke, but they do need to have a foundation of swim skills the coaches can build upon. These skills include:

• the ability to submerge mouth & nose
• bob
• float on their front and back
• lift themselves out of the pool
• jump into the water & return to the wall unassisted

Along with these skills, the following criteria must be met in order to participate on the team:

Swimmers ages 5 and up:

• Swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted and without stopping within 1 min 15 sec

WHEN IS REGISTRATION?

• Swimmers may register:
  • Online
    • Starting March 1, 2025
    • Open to Cibolo Canyons residents exclusively from March 1-15
    • Open to non-residents who were on swim team previously: March 15
    • Open to non-residents new to the swim team on: March 22
    • Registration will close for all heats on March 31. If space allows, late registration may be available until April 11.

WHAT ARE THE FEES?

• $140.00 for each swimmer 5-14yr in your family for residents
• $180.00 for each swimmer 5-14yr in your family for NON-residents
• $50.00 for each swimmer 15 and older in your family for residents and NON-residents.
• Payment MUST be received on or before Wednesday, April 22, 2026 for your swimmer(s) to participate.
• NO late registrations will be accepted after April 11, 2026
• All registrations, apart from the non-competition team, includes one team t-shirt* and one latex team cap per swimmer. [*Please register by March 31 to guarantee we can order your requested t-shirt size(s).]

HOW DO I REGISTER?

• For online registration:
  • Click the "Register Now" button at the top of the main webpage (visible on the day of registration).
  • You will be directed to the registration page where you will be walked through the process online.
  • Very important to register online as soon as it opens since it will open up to non-residents and new swimmers soon after. 

HOW DO I PAY?

• You can pay online using a credit card during the registration process through this website (fees may apply), or
• Bring check, made out to Cibolo Canyons Water Buffaloes to Swim Season Kick-Off Party at the Amenity Center on April 22 (Payments can be given to Treasurer: Jack Welch, or Parent Rep: Kyleigh Halsey.) 
• Reminder that NO Full Refunds are provided.

WHEN DOES REGISTRATION END?

• Online registration ends on Tuesday, March 31 at midnight
• Late registration may be available until April if space allows.
• NO registrations will be taken after April 11.

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED?

• A team suit  
  • Team Suit Info
• Goggles (tinted or mirrored are recommended, available for purchase at the Meet & Greet from SwimFreak at a discounted price, price varies)
• Swim caps are required for ALL meets (girls must also wear caps at ALL practices).
  • Silicone Team Caps will be available for purchase ($15 with registration and $20 if you purchase after registration.)
  • It is recommended that you save your Team Cap for swim meets and purchase an additional one for practice.
• Swim fins are mandatory for swimmers as the Coach will be using fins in some of her training drills (available for purchase at the Swimmer Kick off Party from Swim Freak at a discounted price).
• Kickboards are highly encouraged.

ARE REFUNDS AVAILABLE IF MY CHILD CHANGES HIS/HER MIND?

• Please consider the commitment made by joining the Cibolo Canyons Water Buffaloes Swim Team.
• NO FULL REFUNDS will be given.
• A partial refund will be considered ONLY in the event of an injury preventing the swimmer from participating and will be at the discretion of the coaches and parent board.
• Your child MUST be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted (without touching the bottom, side, or rope), submerge their mouth and nose, lift themselves out of the pool, float on their front/back and bob in the water.
• Any swimmer new to the team must attend "tryouts" on April 15th. This will be prior to the Swimmer Kick off Party, along with other notated dates. 
• Any swimmer who is unable to complete the necessary qualifications will be withheld from the team for safety reasons. Private swim lessons will be recommended to these swimmers.

DO PARENTS NEED TO VOLUNTEER?

YES! Every family plays an important role in the success of the team.

• Each family must attend and work TWO full swim meets. Mock Meet, Champs and All Stars do not count.

HOW CAN WE GET ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION?

• Coaches swim clinics (Individual Lessons) will be available, times and date to come.
