ABOUT THE WATER BUFFALOES
Since our founding, the Cibolo Canyons Water Buffaloes have proudly served neighborhood families as a volunteer led, community driven summer swim program. We introduce swimmers ages 5 to 18 to the excitement of competitive swimming in a structured, supportive, and high energy environment right here in our community.
Teams are placed into divisions based on enrollment and prior performance, creating a balanced and competitive experience for swimmers at every level. Each division competes weekly throughout the season while working toward a divisional title.
Our program focuses on developing strong swimmers and strong character. Athletes refine stroke technique, build confidence, and strengthen competitive skills while learning accountability, resilience, and team pride. With experienced coaching leadership and a committed volunteer foundation, we emphasize effort, sportsmanship, and measurable improvement throughout the season.
The Water Buffalo season includes structured weekday practices, league swim meets, team events, and an end of season celebration. Swimmers compete based on their age as of June 1 of the current year and are grouped by age and ability to ensure appropriate development and competition.
As members of our local summer swim league, Maverick, we compete against neighboring teams while representing Cibolo Canyons with integrity and pride. Our program welcomes both new and returning swimmers, creating an environment where beginners feel supported and experienced swimmers are challenged.
To participate, swimmers must be able to safely swim 25 yards unassisted. No prior competition experience is required.
