🦬 What the Heat Sheet Tells You
Event Number
- The number announced over the loudspeaker. Event numbers can change from meet to meet depending on the teams swimming.
Heat Number
- Each event is broken into smaller groups called heats. A heat usually has 5–8 swimmers, depending on the pool.
Lane Number
- The lane your swimmer is assigned for that event.
Seed Time
- A swimmer’s fastest recorded time in that event from a previous meet. Seed times are used to group swimmers into heats.
Final Time
- The time your swimmer swims in that event at this meet.
Heat Winner
- The first swimmer to touch the wall in that heat. Ribbons are awarded by heat, not overall event.
📣 Important Meet Day Notes
- The announcer will call event and heat numbers over the loudspeaker.
- Event signs are also posted on deck — check them often.
- Heat Sheets can change on meet day due to late arrivals, no shows, or to keep the meet moving.
- Sometimes boys and girls may be combined into one heat to save time. The announcer will always say when heats are combined.
- Please stay flexible and listen closely as your swimmer’s event approaches. Coaches work hard to place swimmers only in events they feel confident swimming.
