She is currently on staff with the Schertz YMCA Swim Team and is finishing her 25th high school season as the SCUCISD Aquatics Coordinator while also teaching English IV at Steele HS. She enjoys volunteering and is on the board of South Texas Swimming as the DICE Chair and helps organize the STX Athlete Committee. Coach Angie is a part of the Texas A&M Class of 1991 and attended UT-Austin, completing her M. Ed in School Counseling. She is married and has 2 older children who work in the public schools as a band and dance director, and younger daughter, a dance major at Texas State University. She is excited to join the Cibolo Canyons coaching staff and is looking forward to a fun summer helping athletes love the sport of swimming!
Alanna has been swimming since the age of five, competing in club, high school, and summer league. She swam club with the Schertz YMCA Swim Team, competed with the Schertz Stingrays summer league team, and was a four-year varsity swimmer at Samuel Clemens High School, where she helped break school records and qualified for regionals each year.
Alanna has also spent time coaching younger swimmers and volunteering with Special Olympics, gaining experience working with athletes of all abilities. As the oldest of six siblings, she naturally enjoys mentoring and supporting younger kids as they grow. Swimming has always been a big part of her life, and she is excited to share that passion with others.
Miko brings a strong competitive swimming background and a passion for developing young athletes. She swam four years in summer league, competed for ten years in club swimming, and was a four year varsity high school swimmer. Throughout her career, she trained with Rac Aquahawgs, Alamo Area Aquatics, and the Boerne Champions.
In addition to her competitive experience, Miko has three years of swim lesson instruction and one year of summer league coaching experience. She is excited to help swimmers grow in confidence, strengthen their technique, and enjoy being part of a team this season.
Josh is no stranger to the water — or to working hard for what he wants. A multi-sport athlete, Josh spent four years competing in wrestling and two years swimming with a club team at Lifetime, where he also spent two years on the lifeguard stand keeping swimmers safe. That experience naturally led him to coaching and instruction, where he found a passion for teaching others in the water.
Now a graduating senior, Josh is heading to Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi this fall to continue his journey. The youngest of two brothers, he brings energy, hustle, and a genuine love for the sport to the Water Buffaloes deck.
Henry has been in the water practically his entire life. He swam all three seasons on the Pieper High School varsity swim team while also competing four years on the varsity water polo team, then took his competitive career further with three years swimming for the San Antonio Wave and two years playing water polo with AAAA. Add in 10 summers with the Inwood Hollow Dolphins, starting from kindergarten, and you have someone who genuinely grew up in this sport.
Beyond competing, Henry has built real experience on the coaching side. He spent a semester coaching with AAAA where he dug deeper into the technical side of the sport, and last summer he joined the Timberwood Tiger Sharks coaching staff where he discovered just how much he loves being on deck with young swimmers. He also spent three summers serving with his church in Memphis, working with kids through daycares, sports, and education — which tells you a lot about the kind of person he is.
Evelynn is an incoming junior at Pieper High School with a strong passion for swimming. After discovering her love for the sport on the Water Buffalo summer swim team, she continued to grow her skills by competing this past year on the AAAA swim team.
As the oldest of four younger sisters, Evelynn brings patience, energy, and a natural ability to connect with kids. She is a quick learner who is dedicated, enthusiastic, and excited to share her love of swimming as a coach this summer.
Aubrey brings ten years of competitive swimming experience to the Water Buffaloes coaching staff, along with a technical background that spans continents. She has competed with the European Forces Swim League and a German swim league, giving her hands-on experience with international training methods and a diverse set of drills and checking techniques that she is eager to bring to the deck.
Currently swimming with both the Storm YMCA and Steele High School swim teams, Aubrey is an active competitor who is constantly pushing to refine her own technique and speed. That drive for self-improvement is at the core of how she coaches — she has supported coaches during meets and practices and knows how to keep swimmers focused, encouraged, and moving forward. Aubrey joins the Water Buffaloes with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for helping new and returning swimmers reach their potential.
Camila Ruiz-Esparza has been swimming since she was seven years old. She spent six years training with the club team at Lifetime and is currently in her second season with the Reagan High School swim team. A sophomore who balances the pool with orchestra and Chinese, Camila brings the well rounded discipline of a true student athlete to the deck.
She has an older brother and has spent her whole life chasing the bar higher and clearing it, and she is ready to bring that same drive to our Water Buffaloes swimmers this season.
